Greenhithe DA Group Organiser Claire Lee I set up Greenhithe DA in March 2008, and it was something i had wanted to do for several years after my own experience with depression. My depression started in 1999 after my younger brother died in a car accident and I suffered with mental health problems for many years. Eventually I was admitted to The Priory hospital in Hayes Grove for a month where I learned a lot about coping with depression and I was also lucky enough to find an excellent Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. My Psychiatrist at the Priory put me on the right medication for me and this made a big difference to my recovery. Now i'm back working, eating and sleeping better than ever before! I am still on antidepressants but i wouldn't consider my self as being depressed, we all still have our moments but i can cope with them much better now. My reason for setting up the group was that so many people don't have the oportunity to get the same excellent care that i did (eventualy!) and i wanted to share all the things i had learned to help others. |
